Run

By: Leann Dudash

I ran
to the nearest grassy field,
and clutched
my corner of the Earth.

As I ran,
the earth billowed behind me,
caught in the breeze,
flapping idly.

I saw the ground wrinkle
below me
and I knew
you were doing the same.

You grabbed your bit of the Earth
and ran to me.
We folded the distance
like sheets.
