Third Year

By: Luke Gatta

After work, he sits alone in a pew
on the third floor of a library
with the smell of old books
that sit for years.
Until a curious hand picks one up
and stumbles upon that paragraph he was looking for
only to realize that it doesn't answer the question
that brought him there in the first place
but gives him a new theory, or twenty,
which at first exhaust him
because he now has much more to do
but also a purpose.
